MEET THE TEAM

Chris Agness was born and raised in Austin, Texas, where he attended Westlake High School. In 2007, Chris went on to earn his BBA in Finance at Auburn University. He would often return home in the summers to work at the family agency, Lumber Insurance Services.

 

After graduating from Auburn University with his BBA, Chris moved to Philadelphia where he worked for Pennsylvania Lumbermens Mutual Insurance Company (PLM). During his time with PLM, he worked with the underwriting, marketing and claims teams building a great understanding of how the insurance business works.

 

In 2012, he moved back to Austin and started full time at Lumber Insurance Services. Since coming back to the family business, Chris has helped expand the agency to over 30 states. It is now the largest retail lumber insurance agency in the United States.

 

In 2015, Chris along with his father and brother founded Waterloo Insurance in order to diversify and grow the reach of their customer base. Waterloo Insurance specializes in commercial property and casualty insurance in Central Texas.

 

Chris has become very involved with the Lumbermen’s Association of Texas (LAT), where he currently serves as Associate Vice President and sits on the Board of Directors. He serves as the president and serves on the board of The Independent Insurance Agents of Austin (IIAA). In high school, Chris achieved the rank of Eagle Scout and continues to stay involved with scouting via National Eagle Scout Association (NESA). Chris has been a longtime supporter and volunteer at Mobile Loaves and Fishes, as well as CASA of Travis County.

 

Chris married is wife, Katie, in 2017. They have three young children, Gatlin, Hazel and Nora Kate, as well as two dogs, Bonnie and Charlie. They currently live in Austin, enjoy traveling and stay busy trying to keep up with their kids.
